Powerizers

I was reading today during a 'university work break' and stumbled across something called Powerizers. Now, reading about them makes them seem like they can be a real good laugh, but I couldn't imagine spending upwards of £150 on a pair as I don't think I'd use them enough to get their worth!

I came across them while checking out sports, and they popped up. Well, an advert for them popped up, and I simply closed it before searching for them myself. On youtube there's some videos, of which one caught my eye and you ca see it here.

I may buy some of these for summer, as I finish university by May, so I can hopefully afford to spend about £150 on a pair and get jumpin' on things.

Overall, they've really sparked my interest and am definitely going to keep an eye on how thisnew sport grows.

Uni Life & Money

This week has been better than I had originally hoped in relation to what I've been like over previous weeks. Unfortunately for some of my teachers though (actually, just one specific teacher) I've been more absent then they like me to be.

Besides that, I've finished my Computer Music Technology final composition which just leaves another 750 odd words for me to write for my Musicianship and Musicology class, which is deadlined for 3pm on Monday 17th. I've got ages, so I'll be continuing to do a bit each day until it's done, then hand it in on time.

I'm not sure when my £305 bursary is coming in, but when it does I'm moving £200 of it into my savings account, which will go towards either my first car or my emergency fund. That depends on when I can book and pass my driving test.

At the moment though, I'm running on £100 until the end of December, which is alright as I'll be getting paid towards the end of this festive month, and then a week later I'll be getting my second lump of university grant + loan combo for this academic year.

Premature Update!

As you can see, I decided to update the blog a month early because I couldn't wait any longer!!

The only things left to edit later on this week are;
  • The progress bar colour
  • Post title colour
And then I'm done! I'll also be testing the links to make sure they're still working, but for now I've got to get ready for University.

Remember, this is only 'version 1', and I'll be updating it roughly once per month until I've got a style I really like. The advertisers section will be live after Christmas as well as more detail on goals (both short and long term) and general life news that could be of interest.

I hope you enjoy the new style!

Blog v1 Details

Today I finished some images for my new blog layout.

Unfortunately I don't have the know-how to create it as a template, so I'm just going to upload it as images. I've done the v1.0 models for;
  • Header
  • Navigation buttons
  • Module/Widget headers
  • Special post titles
It's got a yellow on white theme, making the blog seem a bit more comical and fun, with some custom fonts to aid in making My Student Debt Will Die seem a bit more 'unique' and user friendly.

I won't upload any images yet, as I'm sure they'll change from now until I upload them on around New Year. I spent about 3 hours whacking them together and generally messing around in Macromedia Flash 8 and seeing what they'll look like 'live' in Dreamweaver 8.

It looks good far!

Money Transfer

Yesterday I transferred £572 to my Dad's bank account in order to pay for my new Samsung R70 laptop, which should clear within the next 4 days, allowing him to buy it, ultimately allowing delivery to occur towards the end of week!

Once that arrives, I'll spend a day or so transferring my files from my current desktop PC onto my laptop via a LAN connection or something. I've got the 'net, a 1GB memory stick, network cables and bluetooth, DVDs and CDs and so on, so I can do pretty much whatever I like to move my files over!

So now I'm left with just under £130 to last me this week, over Christmas and the first week of January. I get paid from work in about two weeks, as well as a PayPal payment that'll be around that time, too. So I'll have upwards of £300 for the New Year, and then my student grant and loan will come through on the 7th, in which case I'll be just over £1,600 in debt by then and have about £800 in savings, too.

Overall, my money situation isn't 'bad', as such, just a bit tight over Christmas. But, I am the one who's wanted this laptop for the last 5 weeks!
